Introduction to Science and Technology Policy

What it is about

You learn how science and technology are intertwined with politics and society: which models of the relationship between science, technology and politics exist, which conflicts about expertise, legitimation and risk arise, and how political governance of S&T works. By the end you can apply central concepts from Science and Technology Studies and Public Policy, systematically analyze S&T-related cases, and argue justified normative positions.

• Apply concepts and analytical tools from STS and Public Policy
• Systematically analyze complex S&T-Policy problems
• Draw parallels between classic STS case studies and current debates
• Acquire basic knowledge of current research topics and methods in STS and Public Policy
