AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

In this lab you develop a lightweight, portable, and intelligent prosthesis for the upper extremities. You work on advanced model-based and AI-supported control approaches, develop novel user task control methods, and conduct training sessions as well as validation tests in the lab and in the field with a human user.

What you will be able to do

  • Object recognition with OpenCV, Caffe or PCL
  • EMG signal classification (SVM or neural networks)
  • Kinematic and dynamic modeling in MATLAB/Simulink (Newton-Euler, Lagrange)
  • Design and implementation of advanced model-based controls (e.g., impedance control)
  • Programming intuitive user control (task control)
  • Integration of mechatronic components into a functioning prosthesis system
  • Team planning and collaborative execution of an engineering project

What the module consists of

  • Labor / ProjektDevelopment of the prototype of an intelligent mechatronic prosthesis; supervision and execution of tests
  • EinführungskurseConveying fundamental content and introduction to the topics
  • Selbständiges individuelles ArbeitenIndependent handling of tasks and development part
  • GruppenarbeitCooperative project work including supervised and unsupervised lab time

Teaching method

  • EinführungskursePreparation for the laboratory and project tasks
  • Selbständiges individuelles ArbeitenDeepening and implementation of individual parts of the project
  • GruppenarbeitImplementation of the overall project in the team, including laboratory work
