What it is about

You work in small, interdisciplinary teams on concrete application problems from research or industry. In doing so, you create the entire solution chain from modeling through analysis and numerical solution to presentation, and you can ultimately develop mathematical models, select and implement suitable numerical methods, and present the results scientifically.

What you will be able to do

  • Mathematically analyze and model application problems
  • Assess suitable solution methods
  • Implement algorithms with modern numerical tools
  • Evaluate solutions in the context of the application
  • Work interdisciplinarily in a team
  • Present results scientifically (poster, talk, paper)

What the module consists of

  • ProjektarbeitWork on a concrete application problem in groups; complete solution chain from modeling to implementation and evaluation
  • PräsentationenMid-term and final presentations for discussion and feedback
  • AbschlussberichtConcise, group-authored scientific report (conference paper level)

Teaching method

  • Teamprojekt under supervisionpractical application, interdisciplinary work and regular supervision by mathematics and subject area supervisors
  • Poster- and talk sessions with peer feedbacktrain presentation skills and discuss results publicly
  • zusätzliche Vorträge/Materialiencomplementary material to address gaps in expertise or methods as needed by the project
