AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You learn the fundamentals of Fourier analysis on Euclidean spaces: Fourier series on period intervals and the Fourier transform on R^n, including generalizations to L^2 and distributions. In the end you will be able to assess convergence and regularity questions and apply Fourier techniques to applications such as PDEs, signal processing and sampling.

What you will be able to do

  • Understanding Fourier series and convergence results
  • Applying the Fourier transform in L^1, L^2 and for distributions
  • Recognizing the relationship between regularity and Fourier decay
  • Practical knowledge on applications (PDEs, uncertainty, sampling, wavelet construction)

What the module consists of

  • LectureDelivery of theory and examples
  • Exercise/PracticalDeepening through problem sheets and solutions

Teaching method

  • LecturePresentation of content, demonstrative examples and discussion
  • ExerciseProblem sheets with solutions for self-check and deepening
