What it is about
You will learn to apply mathematical methods and models to ecological questions. In the end you can describe, analyze, and ecologically interpret populations, their interactions, spatial spread, and structure with suitable mathematical models.
What you will be able to do
- Mathematical modeling for ecological problems
- Analysis of unstructured and structured population models
- Consideration of environmental effects and spatial dynamics (diffusion)
- Knowledge of branching processes and control theory
- Recognition and analysis of global bifurcations
- Simulations to support analytical statements
- Independent development and interpretation of models
What the module consists of
- LectureConveying the theoretical foundations and demonstrative examples
- Übung/Practice sessionsWorking on exercises for deepening, self-check, and application of the methods
Teaching method
- Lecture with examplespresents content and invites own analysis
- Discussionpromotes understanding and participation of the students
- Practice problemsenable deepening and practical application of the methods
