AV Perception

What it is about

You will learn perception systems for automated driving: sensor principles, calibration, map representations as well as methods for localization and mapping. You will be able to apply recognition, tracking and prediction methods to camera data and point clouds and assess their results; furthermore you will reflect on end-to-end perception and teleoperation scenarios.

What you will be able to do

• Understand functional principles of different sensor modalities
• Apply calibration methods to avoid spatial and temporal misalignments
• Reproduce various map representations
• Understand Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) and apply suitable methods
• Analyze recognition problems and select and apply methods for camera and point cloud data
• Evaluate results of recognition methods
• Understand concepts of tracking and prediction and use appropriate methods
• Analyze end-to-end perception and teleoperated-driving scenarios
