What it is about

You will learn the basics of production and supply chain planning and practice making decisions in Operations and Supply Chain Management in a systematic way. In the end you will be able to apply process analysis, capacity planning, demand and inventory management as well as lean principles, and use simple mathematical models and heuristics to solve real production and supply chain problems.

What you will be able to do

  • Evaluate complex planning problems in Operations and SCM
  • Critically analyse Operations- and Supply-Chain problems with advanced methods
  • Improve decision processes in Operations and SCM through logical and strategic approaches
  • Systematically assess newer trends such as supply chain finance and resilience
  • Formulate and solve important inventory models (e.g., EOQ, Newsvendor)

What the module consists of

  • LectureConveying the theoretical foundations and interactive case studies/simulations
  • Voluntary exercisesDeepening in small groups with demonstrations by teaching assistants

Teaching method

  • Lecture with whiteboardExplanation of concepts and derivations in real time to deepen understanding
  • Case studies and simulationsApplication of theory to real problems and training in decision-making
  • Online materials (Moodle, videos, MC questions)Self-study and practice outside the in-person sessions
