Advanced Seminar Finance & Accounting: Current research Topics in Digital Finance

What it is about

In this seminar you will select a current research topic from the field Digital Finance and based on that create a comprehensive literature review as well as a scientific elaboration. At the end you will be able to critically summarize the most important scientific contributions to the chosen topic, systematically answer research questions and place the results in a financial science context.

What you will be able to do

Outline the impact of FinTech developments on products and processes of the financial industry
Demonstrate an overview of current developments in Digital Finance
Identify opportunities and risks of these developments (including overall economic stability)
Conduct independent literature research at an internationally high level
Systematically analyze and evaluate scientific literature
Connect Digital-Finance topics with theories/methods of traditional financial education
Derive answers to scientific questions in a systematic and structured manner
Develop an independent scientific elaboration

Assessment

The examination consists of a scientific term paper (approx. 20–25 pages). The work can be completed as a single or group work (usually 2–3 students). In addition, you will present the central results in a 30-minute presentation with a following discussion. Active participation in the discussions of the other presentations is also expected. The final grade is composed of: written term paper 50%, presentation 30%, discussion contributions 20%.
